Frequently Asked Questions
About the work
Are all pieces handmade?
Yes.
Every object is made by hand, one at a time, in the studio.
OYU does not produce multiples of the same item. Each piece exists as a single object.
Will the piece I receive look exactly like the photos?
Yes.
OYU sells one-of-a-kind pieces.
The object shown in the photographs is the exact piece you will receive.
Please note that minor differences in colour can occur due to screen settings, lighting conditions and display calibration. All photos are taken in natural light and are not colour-altered to ensure an accurate representation of the piece.
Size & measurements
How is capacity measured?
Capacity is measured to approximately 90% of the vessel’s volume, reflecting realistic, everyday use - not filled to the rim.
This provides a more accurate indication of how the piece functions in daily rituals.
Why can sizes vary slightly?
All pieces are wheel-thrown and finished by hand.
Small variations in dimensions and weight are natural and part of the process.
Approximate measurements are always listed in the product description.
I expected the piece to be larger / smaller - can I return it?
Please read product descriptions carefully before ordering.
Because each piece is unique and sold as a single object, returns for change of mind or size expectations are not accepted.
OYU encourages considered, intentional purchases rather than impulse buying.
Use & care
Are the ceramics food safe?
Yes.
All functional pieces are made from high-fired stoneware and are food safe.
Are the pieces dishwasher-safe?
Most pieces are technically dishwasher-safe.
However, hand washing is recommended to preserve glaze surfaces and extend the life of the object - especially for ash-glazed and wood-fired pieces.
Can I use them in the microwave?
Yes, with care.
Ceramic retains heat - always handle with attention.
Ordering & availability
Will sold-out pieces be restocked?
Not necessarily.
OYU does not reproduce objects on demand.
If a form or glaze returns, it may differ from previous versions.
If a piece resonates with you, it is best to purchase it while available.
Do you accept custom orders?

They must align with the studio’s existing forms, materials and approach.

Shipping
Where do you ship from?
All orders are shipped from Poland.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. OYU ships worldwide.
Please note that import taxes, VAT, and customs duties may apply depending on your country and are the responsibility of the buyer.
Why is VAT added at checkout in the EU?
EU VAT is calculated based on the destination country and is applied during checkout once the shipping address is selected.
What about shipping to the United States?
Due to current customs and tariff regulations, U.S. orders are shipped via FedEx.
Additional customs fees or duties may apply and are determined by U.S. customs authorities.
Please refer to the Shipping & Returns page for full details before ordering.
Returns & issues
Do you accept returns?
All sales are final.
Returns for change of mind are not accepted.
This allows the studio to work sustainably and intentionally.

In the rare event that a piece arrives damaged, please contact the studio immediately and include clear photos of:
the damaged item,

external packaging.
Each case is handled individually.
Studio & availability
Can I visit the studio?
The studio is private and not open to visitors.
OYU operates quietly and ships worldwide to make the work accessible without a physical storefront.

This allows full control over presentation, pricing and the relationship with those who use the work.
Do you offer workshops or courses?
No.
The studio does not currently offer workshops, courses, or individual instruction.
This may change in the future, but for now the focus remains on making work.
Do you accept interns or apprentices?
